EIA Ventures · after the summer course

Most student startups die between the pitch and the first invoice.

From pitch to paying customers in ten weeks.

EIA Ventures sets a date for your first paying customer. Ten Saturdays with a venture investor, then EIA invests.

People give students fifteen minutes they'd never give a vendor. Write from your university address, say what you're building and ask for advice.

What it costs you in equity

Slide EIA's investment. An outside investor matches it 1:1 at the same $500,000 cap.

  • You and your team: 94%
  • EIA: 3%
  • Co-investor: 3%

You raise $30,000 and keep 94%.

Post-money SAFE at a $500,000 cap, before any later rounds.

Three conditions. Then one payment.

  2. Incorporate a companyA legal entity exists, jurisdiction chosen with coachingFall 2026 deadline: 15 December 2026
  3. Co-investmentAn outside investor matches EIA's amount 1:1 on the same or better termsFall 2026 deadline: 15 December 2026

The rule

No outside co-investor, no EIA investment.

EIA invests in a student startup only if an outside investor has decided to invest in it as well.

Read the full rule
  1. Match. EIA invests the same amount the outside investors put in, 1:1, up to the amount offered to the team.
  2. Minimum. At least $10,000 must be matched. A team may choose in advance to take less than it was offered.
  3. What counts. Equity in a priced round, a SAFE or convertible note from a third party, angels, syndicates, pre-seed funds, family offices, and friends and family on an equity or convertible instrument at arm's-length terms. Several investors can combine.
  4. What does not count. Loans with no equity component, grants, prizes, donations, the founders' own money, and revenue.
  5. Same or better terms. The outside money comes in at a valuation or cap of $500,000 or above, so the rule never pushes founders into bad terms to unlock EIA's money.
  6. Order of payment. The team shows signed instruments and proof that the outside funds have arrived. Then EIA signs its SAFE and pays once. EIA never pays first.

Questions founders ask

FoundersCan I apply to EIA Ventures directly?

No. Entry is only through an investment award at the Demo Day of an EIA course. A team that wants the program but not the investment can join on a program-only basis, with the same sessions and the same graduation.

FoundersDo I have to leave university?

No. The program is designed for 10 hours a week around full-time study. Exam weeks are mapped in the first session. EIA's position is that founders stay in university.

FoundersI am a solo founder. Is that a problem?

You can join and sell alone. Raising is harder alone, and the program treats team formation as content: a CEO founder is named in week one, equity and roles are agreed by week three, and the ten weeks work as a trial. Half of student founders start alone.

EveryoneWhat does EIA charge?

Nothing. There is no fee and no equity for the program. Equity changes hands only if EIA invests, on the published SAFE terms.

EveryoneWho owns the IP?

You and your company. EIA takes no IP. You check university, employer and grant claims before incorporation, with coaching.

FoundersWhat if my team does not meet the conditions?

The offer lapses with no penalty and no debt. Everything built in the program stays with you.

EveryoneHow is revenue verified?

One written definition for every team, exports checked three times, unevidenced revenue counts as zero, and misreporting ends participation.

FoundersWhere do I incorporate?

Later than you think, and where your first investor and contract customers can work with you. EIA coaches the decision in sessions 1, 3, 6 and 9 and in office hours. EIA does not choose for you and does not pay formation costs.

FacultyCan my university be named?

Yes, with your agreement and the founders' consent. Partner universities are named in the yearly outcomes report. EIA is working toward recognition agreements with ten universities by 2030.

Sell first. Raise second. Stay in school.

Your door into the next cohort opens at Summer 2027.
